crazy speech

ladies and gentlemen, good morning. it’s my great honor to be here and i am very happy to see you all. thank you for being here. what i am going to talk about today is how to speak good english. making

first of all, i’d like to talk about the importance of speaking good english and share my experience in learning english with you. as you know, english has become an international language. wherever you go, english is always commonly used. it is convenient to know the language. at the same time, english may be the most important factor in deciding which countries are leaders in the future. the language of the most advanced management and technology is undoubtedly english. being able to absorb this information is really the key to the new century. in the 21century. we can’t go there and speak our own language because nobody is going to learn it in order to understand us. our asian rival, india, has surged ahead of other developing countries in information technology because of its superior english skills. unless we are able to master english, we will not be able to get our population to use it and take advantage of the new economy. there is an urgent need to have a workforce which is proficient in the language in view of the information technology onslaught. second, about learning english, i think laying a strong foundation is the first and most important step. in other words, you should read and speak english every day. memorizing new words and phrases is also helpful. of course, learning english takes some time, so don’t be impatient. remember, rome wasn’t built in a day. and then since english is not our native tongue, wemust develop the muscles of your speech organs to produce unfamiliar sounds. when you read, read as loudly as possible, as clearly as possible and as quickly as possible. tongue muscles’ training is of importance in learning any foreign language.

third, if you want to speak good english, please don’t care how poorly well you speak, only care about catching the chances to speak. you must enjoy losing face, just forget about your face. the more you speak, the better your english will become. the more mistakes you make, the more progress you will make. you must enjoy speaking poor english, because speaking is the only thing that will lead you towards success. don’t give up. just try your best. every time you move your mouth, your memory will deepen, your muscles will strengthen. you can make it.

i have made a considerableamounts of public english speaking in my life, i am often asked why the crazy english method is better than other methods or if the crazy english method will help all english learners. my answer is, the method will help the english learners because it is a perfect match with the chinese principles of diligence, self-help and determination. mere exposure to english will not enable you to speak english. if you want to drive you have to get in the car and drive, if you want to dance you have to turn on the music and dance, if you want to swim you have to jump

in the water and swim. in fact, swimming is the perfect comparison to learning english. you can’t learn to swim by sitting in a room and reading books about swimming skills. in order to be a swimmer you’ve got to conquer you fear, you’ve got to survive and suck in water, yell for help, you’ve got to lose face many times before you can make it. but, to be a good swimmer you’ve got to practice again and again. to be a great swimmer you have to practice for years until you can harmonize every part of your body and mind.

finally, i want to greet you and encourage you to seize this unique opportunity to conquer english and make lifelong friends from all over our college. as you know, we are human beings ,not animals. we know what we want to do. we know our destiny is in our hands. with hard work and determination, we can do anything we set our mind to do. today, i will accompany you every minute on this unique journey. i want you to open your heart, i want you to be devoted, i want you to be crazy, i want you to forget about your face, i want to open your mouth wildly, i want you conquer your laziness and all the other human weaknesses, i want you to overcome all the obstacles that hold you back.

i want to share your joy and i want to share your struggle, but most important of all, i want to share your glory and victory. we are the future of china, the future of asian, and the future of the world. we desire to win, we must win, we will win, absolutely, definitely, and without any doubt! form a painfully shy boy who felt terrible about himself, who regarded himself as human trash, a born loser, to an internationally recognized english promoter, i made it. so i strongly believe that you will make it too. i have confidence in you.

well, i almost had a heart attack〖心脏病发作;心脏麻痹〗a few moments ago, when i was asked to speak in english. i guess i didn't have one, fortunately, because i am still standing here firmly on my feet〖仍好端端地站在这里〗.

from childhood, i have been a poor student of foreign languages〖从小我的外语就不好〗. throughout my education〖学生时代〗, i have been exposed to〖接触〗languages such as english, spanish, and french, but i flunked all these classes. but through my experience in business at home and abroad〖国内外〗i have learned the most important language by meeting a wide range of people from different cultures. it's the language of human relationship that is based on trust, openness, and under standing〖这就是基于信任、开放和理解的人际关系的语言〗. this universal language〖这种世界性的语言〗has always brought people of different cultures close together〖将不同文化的人们紧密地结合在一起〗. and i believe it is through this language of human relationship that our company has grown into what it is today〖达到它今日的成长/发展到今日的规模〗.

i want to thank you for giving me an opportunity to speak to you. and next time, please ask me in advance to make a speech.

1. be exposed t

2. flunk:

she flunked her english examination.

the teacher flunked him in geography.

it is generally believed that chinese are poor public speakers, especially when it comes to speaking in english, and fortunately or unfortunately, i am no exception to that rule.

My Definition of Success

Once upon a time, there e young prince... ething so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I bination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my viees.

The concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. Something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. In acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success. Thats e out first, it e young prince and the 4-step definition of success. You my have noticed that the usual worldly criteria of wealth, position and fame were not mentioned as part of the story, but rather, it emphasized the process of overcoming difficulties. The ancient wisdom had already defined the meaning of success, and this is my definition, too.

Thank you.

1. abc corporation. may i help you?

一般接起电话的人通常会先报公司的名字"abc corporation",然后再说, "may i help you?"或是如果要更客气一点的话则可以说"how can i help you?" 但基本上"may i help you?"跟"how can i help you?"

不过如果是机器接的电话,则听到的多半是这样, "thanks for calling abc corporation, if you know your party's last name or extention, press 1. if you want to recieve information or publication, press 2. if you want to talk to the operator, press pound sign or remain on the line."

2. and you are?

你是?

如果人家打电话来是要找你的上司, "may i talk to your manager?" 最客气的问法是, "whom i am speaking with?"或是"whom am i talking to?"

像是"and you are?" 而且事实上"and you are?" 来访的客人如果说, "i'm looking for mr. wolf."

3. i'll put her on the phone. just a second.

fw76.CoM

put someone on the phone这个片语就是说请某人听电话. 什么时候要结婚啦,这时如果你实在不想跟她讲了,就可以说, "could you please just put her on the phone?" 反过来如果今天是你接到了电话,结果要找的是别人,你就可以说, "ok. i'll put her on the phone. just a second."

例如同样的情况你可以说,"i'm transferring your call."或是"i'm redirecting your call." 或是, "ok. i'll put you through."

4. would you mind holding for one minute?

在美国如果有机会打电话给客户服务(customer service)部门,如果没意外的话都会听到以下的电话录音, "all of our representitives are currently busy serving their customers. your call will be answered in approximate 5 minutes" (我们所有的客服人员都在忙着服务他们的顾客,请等五分钟后,就会有人接听你的电话),然后十分钟过去了, "please continue to hold, your call is very important to us." 如果万不得已一定要请他稍候,我们要客气一点地说,"would you mind holding for one minute?" 但是如果一分钟到了你还没忙完,则最好再说一次,"sorry, i am still on the phone. could you hold for another minute?"

5. he's out for lunch. would you like to try again an hour later?

其实这个went是多余的,通常老美只讲be out for something就行了。如果要再简化一点,单说, "he is on lunch."或是"he is on (lunch) break."

例如你可以建议别人,"why don't you call back in 30 minutes?" 第二种选择就是请对方留言,客气一点的讲法是,"may i take your message?"或是"would you like to leave a message?"

olympics of mankind,

celebration of green nature

good morning, everybody!

let's start with the very simple question: do you know the tree coverage rate of beijing? well, the recent numerical value is 49。9%。 it sounds much, but is there simply one tree that was planted by you? if there is, let's say you're really great。 but if not believe me you are not alone cuz it's rather difficult for us students to get involved in such activities。 well, i think now we all realize that all that we've done for the green is just about claiming or declaring, painting or advertising。 however what i'm fully convinced is that someday ten years ago you must have stepped onto the grassland in the early spring and i'm sure that some of you (especially girls) must have unwittingly picked up dandelions by the roadside and gently blew their parachute like seeds into the fragrant breeze。 by the time our lives can be counted by decades, what have we done for our mother nature?

before you get lost in speculation, please follow me and try considering some other questions: put up your hands if you have watched the olympic games? (of course you have or else you wouldn't be sitting here) nonetheless how many of you had the experience of sitting in front of the television waiting for the games of the unable people? i think now we can draw the conclusion that we concern the olympic games mostly for entertainment。

have you found out that the linkage between the olympic games and the green environment is that we almost do nothing really helpful to either of them! what now i want to tell you is very realistic i wrote them from the core of my heart so please believe me they are my true feelings。

last summer when i had just finished the high school entrance examination, i came up with the idea of not using air conditioners in that coming summer。 then i had an extraordinarily hard time controlling myself and had suffered from having more than one air conditioners in sight yet cannot make use of them。 every time i caught sight of them i told myself that i was doing something quite valuable。 finally autumn came and to my surprise i had made it! you know how excited i was? i really felt very proud of myself。 sounds ridiculous right? however, will all of you here join me to do this next year, will you? i hope so。 because i feel deeply upset every time when i see my parents waste a lot of water and i don't know why i'm extremely concerned about the protection of environment and the reservation of natural resources since i was young。 my mother was against me on whether to mention her in my speech nevertheless i consider it very common among you and maybe your parents。 in the past i didn't dare to ask others to turn off the faucet while not using them because i was afraid of being described as stingy, am i? stinginess is to resources what responsibility is to the society。 it's about time we aroused the social awareness of environment protection。 doesn't the realization of our green dream and olympic dream both start from that?

because all the beautiful words seem to be so pale and feeble compared with practical actions and i don't like to say sentences like "start right from myself" so let's change it to a more romantic one: the mission of turning the green within our heart and soul into the luxuriantly green scenery out of the window is bound to cross the boundaries between nations, continents and racial groups, from olympia to the great wall and finally fall on our shoulders by the year 2008。

my favorite description of the olympic games is the celebration of mankind。 but now i want to propose a small change, which is to be: olympics of mankind, celebration of green nature。

If I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance(毅力)more often, andnever give up a thing because it was hard or inconvenient. If we want light, wemust conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results.“There are only two creatures,” says a proverb, “who can surmount thepyramids—the eagle and the snail.”

If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; Iwould let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember thata good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit ofattention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. I often heargrown-up people say “I could not fix my attention on the lecture or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed inyouth.

If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to thecultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possiblemeans, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first toremember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very littletrouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.

If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very muchlike a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smile back upon you; but if you frown andlook doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return.

Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that comein contact with it. “who shuts love out ,in turn shall be shut out fromlove.”

Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the solepurpose of life, I would, if I were a boy again, I would still try harder tomake others happy.
